Rejang Lebong highland is the second largest vegetable producers in Sumatera after Kabupaten Karo. (North Sumatera). This highland produces many kind of vegetables, such as hot peppers, tomatoes, cabbages, carrots, cucumber, beans, potatoes, shallots and many other fresh vegetables. These vegetables are mainly marketed to Palembang and Jakarta. Although the local government facilitates the growers to penetrate the Singaporean market, it seems the quality of vegetables can’t meet the Singaporean quality. Another growing concern is the marketing aspect of the products which always put the growers in the less advantage situation. The growers remain getting the least portion of the profits. The government should somehow facilitate the growers to have better marketing strategies, as well as educated the growers to provide Singaporean standard for vegetables. Developing organic vegetable production would be another strategy to help the growers having better profits.
